Work outside the classroom

Most recently, I was a Public Relations Intern at AMPERAGE Marketing and Fundraising. In this role, I worked remotely under the Public Relations director. In this role, I wrote articles and press materials daily, conducted research, prepared content schedules, and compiled media lists – primarily for manufacturing and nonprofit clients. One major project I was able to participate in was the company-wide rebranding initiative that was rolled out in March. For this, my primary role was brainstorming strategy and planning content to be utilized through the next year.

For the first two-and-a-half years of undergrad, I worked for The Daily Iowan. At the time I stepped away, I held the role of Visual Editor, previously having worked as a photojournalist, filmmaker, and news reporter. In these roles, I learned time management, the importance of deadlines, and how to be a leader. I have grown in my ability to lead meetings, speak in front of large groups, be assertive, and relay guidelines from my superiors. I have also learned technical skills in photo and video editing and how to produce content targeted toward specific audiences.

The Daily Iowan

More Than A Moment

I was one of six students selected to work on a documentary photography book chronicling the impact of the Iowa Women's Basketball team and Caitlin Clark. As a team, we captured hundreds of thousands of photographs, with about 320 images published in the book. My biggest contribution to the project was in capturing the impact the team had on youth basketball players across Iowa. To do so, I traveled hundreds of miles and spent countless hours with elementary and high school players, and the connections I made with the players will stick with me as I look towards the future.
